ANALYSIS
Please place on the April 23, 2025 agenda a referral to the Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee to discuss a suitable location for a kayak launch in North Beach.
The Park View Canal’s "no contact with the water" advisory remains in effect for the area adjacent to the kayak launch at 73rd Street. Water sampling results continue to show fecal indicator bacteria concentrations that exceed the recreational water quality standards established by the Florida Department of Health.
Given the ongoing health concerns at this location and the inability of residents and visitors to launch their kayaks from 73rd Street, I would like for the Administration to present and discuss alternative site options in North Beach that would be appropriate for safe public use.
