TITLE:
DISCUSS/TAKE ACTION SPRING BREAK RECOMMENDATION FOR SPRING BREAK 2026.
RECOMMENDATION
BACKGROUND/HISTORY
Now that Spring Break 2025 has concluded, it is imperative that we take the opportunity, as we did last year, to assess its overall impact on our City -- both our numerous successes and any remaining challenges. Each year, we experience an influx of visitors during Spring Break, which places a unique strain on our public safety resources, City infrastructure, and the quality of life for our residents. However, at the same time, Spring Break contributes significantly to our local economy, particularly with regard to the businesses in the hospitality and entertainment sectors. Therefore, a thorough review of the Spring Break 2025 operations, incidents, and community feedback will help us understand what worked well and where improvements are needed.
With that in mind, I would like to open a discussion with my colleagues and City staff to conduct a comprehensive review of Spring Break 2025. This should include input from all City departments, business owners, and our residents. Similar to last year, our goal should be to develop informed and actionable recommendations for Spring Break 2026 that prioritize public safety, ensure responsible tourism, and protect the interests of our community (especially addressing how our measures have impacted our businesses), to specifically include any ideas or proposals that will help us strike the right balance moving forward.
