BACKGROUND/HISTORY
ANALYSIS
Please place on the next available agenda a dual referral to the Finance and Economic Resiliency Committee and Animal Welfare Committee to discuss the potential creation of an incentive program that encourages Miami Beach residents to adopt dogs and cats from Miami-Dade shelters. This program would allow adoptees to be reimbursed or receive vouchers for specific veterinary expenses and food costs for the first year.
Specifically, I would like the committees to discuss, with the aid of the City Administration and relevant stakeholders, the following: β’ The financial feasibility and funding sources for such a program. β’ The types of expenses eligible for reimbursement or vouchers. β’ Potential partnerships with local veterinarians and pet stores. β’ Methods to ensure accessibility and effectiveness in increasing pet adoptions.
