COMMISSION MEMORANDUM

RECOMMENDATION

Over the past several months, my office has received numerous complaints from residents regarding the lack of waste pick-up services. These complaints have raised concerns about the efficiency and reliability of the City’s single residential family waste franchisee in fulfilling its contractual obligations.

The Administration is requested to be prepared to discuss: • Summary of complaints received, including the frequency of missed pick-ups and any other related concerns from residents. • What measures have been or will be taken to ensure that the City’s waste franchisee is complying with its contractual obligations, including service standards, timelines, and any penalties or corrective actions for non-compliance. • Details of any communications with the franchisee, including warnings, notices of non- compliance, or any actions being taken to address these issues. • If necessary, what alternative plans are in place to ensure waste services are being provided consistently to residents, and any long-term strategies to improve service reliability.
