BACKGROUND/HISTORY

ANALYSIS

Please place on the June, 2025 agenda a referral to the Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee to discuss the feasibility of launching a recurring food truck festival or farmers market either on the City-owned West Lots or directly within North Beach Oceanside Park.

The West Lots currently serve as municipal parking, house Ocean Rescue facilities, the Kitty Campus Trap-Neuter-Release Trailer, and include the new skate park, all of which already draw steady foot traffic from residents and visitors. Activating these parcels, or the adjacent North Beach Oceanside park, with a curated culinary or farmers market experience could strengthen neighborhood vibrancy, support local entrepreneurs, provide varied food options, and enhance public safety through positive activation of public space.
