AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE MIAMI BEACH CITY CODE, ENTITLED "ADMINISTRATION," BY AMENDING ARTICLE III, ENTITLED “AGENCIES, BOARDS AND COMMITTEES,” BY CREATING DIVISION 35, BY CREATING SECTIONS 2-190.157 THROUGH 2-190.160 TO ESTABLISH THE “ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE,” TO PROVIDE THE ADMINISTRATION AND CITY COMMISSION WITH RECOMMENDATIONS AND IDEAS TO BETTER SUPPORT AND EXPAND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH; AND, PROVIDING FOR REPEALER, SEVERABILITY, CODIFICATION, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

ANALYSIS
The attached Ordinance was prepared at the request of Commissioner Joseph Magazine.
The City of Miami Beach recognizes the importance of fostering a diverse and resilient local economy that supports small businesses, promotes innovation, and enhances the quality of life for residents and visitors. An Economic Development Advisory Committee would provide expert and community-based insight to assist the Mayor and City Commission in shaping economic development policies and initiatives.
The proposed Ordinance establishes an Economic Development Advisory Committee with seven (7) direct appointees must have a demonstrated interest in at least one of the following:
