BACKGROUND/HISTORY
Please place on the September 3, 2025 agenda a referral to the Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee to consider ways the City would integrate age-inclusive features into public spaces to better support our senior residents and visitors.
As the Cityβs population continues to include a growing number of older adults, there is an opportunity to enhance public spaces with features that promote safety, comfort, and social connection for seniors while benefiting residents of all ages. Examples may include shaded seating areas, smooth walking surfaces, accessible restrooms, improved lighting, clear wayfinding, and intergenerational activity zones.
