COMMISSION MEMORANDUM
RECOMMENDATION
The Administration recommends approving the Resolution.
BACKGROUND/HISTORY
The City of Miami Beach plans to construct, install and operate a new 36-inch diameter sewer line. This project is part of a citywide comprehensive plan to renew and replace the existing sewer infrastructure with the force main crossing Indian Creek identified as a high-priority project in the Cityโs Sewer Master Plan.
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) has determined that the construction, installation, and operation of the sewer force main, located within a portion of the submerged lands of Indian Creek, in Section 14, Township 53 South, Range 42 East, Miami-Dade County, Florida, will require a public Sovereignty Submerged Lands Easement. The new easement will be 10-feet wide with an approximate total area of 6,281 square feet. The easement location and area are further described and represented on Attachment A of the Resolution, with a 50-year term, commencing retroactively from September 11, 2024. The easement is located at approximately 60 Street.
The City and FDEP have both reviewed and approved the proposed easement layout. The City's
property interests are not adversely affected, and the easement would serve an important public purpose.
