COMMISSION MEMORANDUM

TO:
Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission
FROM:
Mayor Steven Meiner
DATE:
September 3, 2025
TITLE:
DISCUSS/TAKE ACTION: PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF BY COMMERCIAL VESSELS AT MIAMI BEACH MARINA.

RECOMMENDATION

BACKGROUND/HISTORY

Residents and stakeholders in the South of Fifth neighborhood have expressed a growing interest in improving the operational logistics of charter vessels utilizing the Miami Beach Marina (“Marina”). While prior efforts by the City—including enhanced enforcement by Code Compliance and the Police Department, as well as legislative measures limiting commercial vessel operating hours—have addressed some concerns, there remains a need to further streamline charter vessel activity. Specifically, there is a desire to establish a centralized location for passenger pick-up and drop-off—such as the Marina’s fuel dock or the dock adjacent to Monty’s—to reduce congestion, minimize noise impacts on nearby residential buildings, and enhance overall coordination of maritime operations in the area.

I would like to discuss with my colleagues, and the appropriate members of staff, the viability of a centralized pick-up/drop-off dock for charter operators at the Marina.
