COMMISSION MEMORANDUM

TO:
Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission
FROM:
Commissioner Alex Fernandez
DATE:
October 29, 2025
TITLE:
REFERRAL TO PUBLIC SAFETY AND NEIGHBORHOOD QUALITY OF LIFE COMMITTEE TO DISCUSS THE PLACEMENT OF WAYFINDING SIGNAGE IN BAYSHORE PARK TO IMPROVE ACCESS TO AMENITIES.

RECOMMENDATION

Please place on the October 29, 2025 agenda a referral to the Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee consideration of a collaborative initiative between the Parks and Recreation Department and the Communications Department to design and install wayfinding signage throughout Bayshore Park.

Bayshore Park is one of the City’s most beautiful and serene green spaces, offering residents and visitors a peaceful retreat in the heart of Miami Beach. With its lush landscaping, open fields, and recreational amenities, the park is a valuable asset to the community.

To enhance the user experience and ensure equitable access to all park features, I would like for the Parks and Communications Departments to propose a joint effort to develop and implement a comprehensive wayfinding system. This initiative would include the design, fabrication, and installation of signage that is both functional and visually aligned with the City’s branding standards.

This collaboration supports the City’s broader goals of improving public spaces, promoting accessibility, and enhancing neighborhood quality of life. The proposed wayfinding improvements would not only help residents and visitors better navigate the park but also reinforce the City’s commitment to thoughtful, user-centered design in our public infrastructure.
