BACKGROUND/HISTORY
ANALYSIS
Please place the above item on the City Commission agenda as a referral to the Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee (“PSNQLC”).
I would like the City Administration to create a web page for the Resident Empowerment & Accountability on Development Dashboard (“READ Dashboard”) and place it prominently on the City’s website, to improve residents’ access to information regarding planned development projects in Miami Beach.
The READ Dashboard should build on the City’s existing development dashboard, by providing additional information about development applications approved by the City’s land use boards. As it relates to Development Agreements, to which the City is a party, the READ Dashboard should also include information about public improvements and other public benefits proffered by developers. My initial meeting with the City Attorney’s Office, Planning Director, and IT team indicated that this initiative is feasible and can be implemented to provide the public with easier access to information.
Additionally, I would like the READ Dashboard to include links to agendas, plans, and other information about development applications that will be presented at upcoming land use board meetings.
Presenting information on both proposed and approved applications in a centralized place on the City’s website will promote transparency and provide residents with greater insight into upcoming development projects.
