C7 AX A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THAT ORIGINALS OF ALL DOCUMENTS, LETTERS, PROCLAMATIONS, GIFTS, IMAGES, AND OTHER ITEMS OFFICIALLY RECEIVED FROM SISTER CITIES, AND COPIES OR PHOTOGRAPHS OF ALL SUCH DOCUMENTS, LETTERS, PROCLAMATIONS, GIFTS, IMAGES, AND OTHER ITEMS OFFICIALLY SENT BY THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH TO ANY SISTER CITY, BE DEPOSITED WITH, AND MAINTAINED BY, THE CITY CLERK'S OFFICE AND RETAINED THERE IN PERPETUITY, TO MAINTAIN A HISTORICAL RECORD OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH EXCHANGES AND COLLABORATIONS WITH OFFICIAL SISTER CITIES; AND APPROVING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE SISTER CITIES COMMITTEE MADE AT ITS JULY 7, 2025 MEETING TO ALLOCATE $10,000 TOWARDS THE BUILDING AND INSTALLATION OF THE SISTER CITIES CABINET IN THE LOBBY OF CITY HALL, WHICH WILL PERMANENTLY HOUSE ALL SISTER CITY GIFTS AND EQUIPMENT RECEIVED BY THE CITY. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach has established a Sister Cities program to foster understanding between communities worldwide through cultural , educational, business, and technical exchanges; and

WHEREAS, since 1959, the Miami Beach Sister Cities program has grown to include approximately thirteen global partner cities, and these relationships have produced documents, letters, proclamations, gifts, images, and other items that illustrate and represent the formal cultural and economic bonds; and

WHEREAS, to retain a comprehensive historical record of Miami Beach Sister Cities vision , programs, projects, and engagements for posterity and public benefit, the Mayor and City Commission desire these documents, letters, proclamations, gifts , images, and other items be properly retained by the City, or its designee; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission direct that originals of all official documents, letters, proclamations, gifts, images, and other items received from Sister Cities, and copies or photographs of all such documents, letters, proclamations, gifts, images, and other items officially sent by the City of Miami Beach to any Sister City, be deposited with, and maintained by, the City Clerk's Office and retained there in perpetuity; and

WHEREAS, the Sister Cities Committee, at its meeting on July 7, 2025, recommended that $10,000 be allocated for the building and installation of a Sister Cities Cabinet in the lobby of City Hall to permanently house all Sister City gifts and equipment received by the City; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to approve and implement this recommendation .

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby direct that originals of all official documents, letters, proclamations, gifts, images, and other items received from Sister Cities, and copies or photographs of all such documents, letters, proclamations, gifts, images, and other items officially sent by the City of Miami Beach to any Sister City, be deposited

with, and maintained by, the City Clerk's Office and retained there in perpetuity, to maintain a historical record of the City of Miami Beach exchanges and collaborations with official Sister Cities; and further approve the allocation of $10,000 for the bu ilding and installation of the Sister Cities Cabinet in the lobby of City Hall, which will permanently house all Sister City gifts and equipment received by the City.
