COMMISSION MEMORANDUM
RECOMMENDATION
The Administration recommends approving the Resolution, authorizing the City Manager to authorize and execute Change Order No. 1 to the contract between the City of Miami Beach and Tools and Equipment Services, Inc.
BACKGROUND/HISTORY
The service vehicle lifts installed at the City’s Fleet Management Facility (the “Facility”) had exceeded their useful life. Accordingly, the City issued ITB 2021-014-WG to engage a contractor for the acquisition, installation and replacement of four (4) commercial service vehicle lifts at the existing bays at the City’s Fleet Management Facility, located at 140 McArthur Causeway (the “Project”).
On February 10, 2021, the Mayor and City Commission awarded a contract to Tools and Equipment Services Inc., (the “Contractor”), the lowest responsive and responsible bidder for the Project.
ANALYSIS
During the construction phase of the Project, the Contractor identified several lineal yards of abandoned underground utility conduits that required removal and backfilling and underground infrastructure requiring additional repairs.
The unforeseen conditions resulted in additional scope of work that included restoration of underground drainage lines and installation of new domestic water connections, as well as installation of new electrical conduit and cables to service the vehicle lifts purchased for Service Bays 2, 3 and 4 of the facility.
In order to ensure uninterrupted progress and timely completion of the Project, the Contractor has provided a change order for the additional scope. The total amount of Change Order No. 1 in the not to exceed amount of $284,932.09 is funded with previously appropriated funding, increasing the existing contract total to $941,082.09.
FISCAL IMPACT STATEMENT
The total fiscal impact is $284,932.09.
